The Missions' New Ballpark
The San Antonio Missions are getting a new $160 million downtown stadium along San Pedro Creek, replacing their current home on the city's Southwest Side. The design — a roughly 4,500-seat ballpark with room for up to 7,500 fans — recently cleared its first review with the city's Historic Design and Review Commission. The team is aiming to open the new park in time for the 2028 season.
The Spurs' New Arena
The bigger-ticket project is the Spurs' planned $1.3 billion arena, the centerpiece of the larger "Project Marvel" downtown sports and entertainment district. The arena is slated for the old Institute of Texan Cultures site at Hemisfair, with a target completion around 2032. Voters and the county have already approved major chunks of public funding, and the Spurs organization just kicked off a round of community listening sessions this summer to gather public input before the design moves further along.
