Highlights

Mayra Etayo was raised on a simple lesson: opportunity is something you build with your own hands. The daughter of Cuban immigrants who rebuilt their careers from scratch after arriving in the United States, and raised in part by a grandmother who never let limited eyesight slow her down, Mayra grew up watching resilience in action — and it shaped the way she leads today.

Born in New York and raised in Miami, Mayra earned her degree in Public Relations from Florida International University, with minors in Marketing, Advertising, and Psychology. Her early career took her through hurricane-preparedness PR for Amoco, community health campaigns with the American Red Cross, event coordination for the City of Key Biscayne, and marketing direction at Miami's aquarium, where she produced major events featuring artists like Jon Secada and Gloria Estefan.

In 2002, she co-founded NJC Communications, building an international client roster in the travel industry in the aftermath of 9/11. She went on to found the Miami-Dade Broward chapter of the National Association of Wedding Professionals and later served as its national president. Along the way, she credits her years as an independent sales director with Mary Kay — top 2% in the company — with sharpening the public speaking, sales, and leadership skills she relies on most.

Today, as Vice President of NJC Events Services, Mayra brings that same drive to producing seamless, high-performing live events at some of the country's biggest stadiums and stages.
